Jim Corbett National Park
Jim Corbett National Park is one of the country's oldest and most renowned national parks.
Established in 1936, the park is named after the legendary hunter-turned-conservationist, Jim
Corbett. It covers a vast area encompassing diverse landscapes, from dense forests to grasslands and
riverine habitats.
Bandipur National Park shares its boundary with 3 other National park namely Nagarahole National
Park, Wayanad National Park and Mudumalai National park. There is ban of traffic from 9 PM to 6 AM
of dusk to dawn to help to drawn down the death rate of wildlife.
"The Jim Corbett National Park" is a part of the largest Corbett Tiger Reserve; the Project Tiger lies in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand. The Majestic landscape of Corbett is well-known for its tiger richness. Established in the year 1936 as Hailey National Park, Corbett has the glory of being India’s oldest and most prestigious National Park. It is also being honoured as the place where Project Tiger was first launched in the year 1973. This Unique tiger territory is best known as the father who gave birth to Project Tiger in India to safeguard the most endangered species and the Royal wild animal of India called Tigers.
The oldest national park in India, Corbett, has over 400 different species of flora and over 550 different species of fauna. The park is best known as a protected area for the critically endangered Bengal tiger of India. Tourism is allowed in selected areas of Corbett Tiger Reserve so that people get an opportunity to see its splendid landscape and the diverse wildlife living here. There are many accommodation facilities at Ramnagar as well as at the Corbett National Park. Being one of the most frequently visited parks in the country, the forest department and other agencies have their hotels, lodges, rest houses, log huts for the visitors.
